Education in Japan is almost the same as Indonesia, which is 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of junior high school and 3 years of high school, plus 2-4 years of college, 1-4 years of special training courses (special training college). Nine years of education for Elementary and Middle School levels are compulsory (age 6-15 years), and no school fees are charged during this period. For elementary school level, students learn Japanese, learning environment, music, drawing and crafts, science, social sciences, arithmetic, homemaking, and physical fitness lessons. They will also receive moral education lessons, participate in social activities, topic studies and junior high school students studying Japanese, social sciences, mathematics, science, music, health and physical education, industrial arts, homemaking and foreign languages. they will also receive moral education lessons, participate in social activities, and almost all schools teach English as their foreign language. There are no tuition fees, the books given are also not charged for a penny. However, costs for lunch, field trips and sightseeing, and stationery are borne by parents.

While in Indonesia, although now the monthly tuition fees at the primary and secondary schools are eliminated, there are still other costs such as photocopying fees, rental of books etc. To proceed to high school after completing compulsory education, students must pass the entrance examination. When a student enrolls in elementary or junior high school, they will be placed at a level that is appropriate for their age.
There are also several other differences between Indonesia and Japan in the education system as follows.
1.       Ethics and discipline
The most striking education system between Indonesia and Japan is in terms of discipline. In addition, ethics is also one of the things that is increasingly strengthened in the Japanese education system. Whereas in Indonesia discipline is very lacking and very difficult to implement. Even in ethical matters Indonesia is experiencing a downturn. Evidenced by the number of cases of teachers who were sent to prison or beaten by parents of students because of reprimanding their students. Student learning ability. In terms of student learning abilities, in Indonesia teachers are more likely to look at individual factors in their students. While in Japan it is as good and smart as any student, if he is unable to work with his friends, then the teacher may not pass it.
2.      School subjects
Lessons in Japan. So students can focus more on learning and not feel pressured by the lesson.Whereas in Indonesia, as we know many subjects sometimes make students feel depressed, stressed and bored. Especially if there is a lot of homework to do.
3.      Emphasis on students
Students in Japan are taught to be able to think critically in teaching and learning activities.Whereas students in Indonesia ranging from elementary level to upper level are always faced with memorization.
4.       School hours
Study hours in Japan begin at 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Whereas in Indonesia generally are 07.00 a.m until 01.00 p.m. When there are students who are late in Japan, they will be told to make an agreement not to repeat it again. If you repeat it again, you will be given a suspension. Whereas in Indonesia it is very different. Students simply ask for an entry permit and receive a small amount of punishment. After that he was allowed to enter the next day. If the next day commits another violation, the procedure remains that way so that there is a lack of firmness
5.      Transportation
Students in Japan from elementary to high school are strictly forbidden to use motorized vehicles, both two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles to school. They usually go to public transportation such as trains and buses, bicycles or even many who walk.Whereas in Indonesia today almost most school children carry two-wheeled motorbikes to school. Even some of the children of officials in cities carry cars. It is as if school is a showcase of wealth, other edits between Indonesia and Japan in the education system as follows.
Therefore education abroad is more advanced than Indonesia because it is seen from the problem that
the education system in Indonesia is mass, meaning that this system makes the same standard for all students, deify values,
turn off critical thinking, homogenize abilities, eliminate identity and the uniqueness of each student and prioritizing his selfish.
